Welcome to Haven Solicitors

Hello and welcome to the new website of Haven Solicitors, I qualified as a Solicitor in 1998 and became a partner in 2005 after spending 13 years working in industry, in particular at the Sellafield Nuclear site where I was a health physics monitor together with being the Site Senior Convenor for the GMB Union.

On leaving Sellafield I studied at Ruskin College Oxford, prior to completing my LLB Law Degree at Leeds University in 1995.

I have dealt with all aspects of Employment Law, including Sex & Race discrimination matters, Disability Discrimination, Whistleblowing cases and unfair dismissal. As part of my duties as both a Solicitor & a Trade Union Representative I have been involved in all aspects of discipline & misconduct matters.

I have a wealth of experience in dealing with Criminal Law including Death by Dangerous driving, and one of the first Gross Negligence manslaughter cases in the UK.

Over the past three years I have been heavily involved in a very complex and successful series of Judicial Reviews against the Home Office & certain Police Authorities with regards to the unlawful reductions to former Police officers Injury on Duty awards. All of the Judicial Review applications were successful subsequently leading to the Home Office withdrawing that part of their Guidance which the Courts held to be unlawful. This decision has led to hundreds, if not thousands, of former Police Officers having their injury pensions reinstated to its correct level.

I set up my own Legal Consultancy in 2009 and worked as a Consultant Solicitor with Lake Jackson Solicitors until January 2014 after which I successfully applied to the Solicitors Regulatory Authority to open my own Solicitor practice.
